COVID Guidelines for players & parents

COACHING GROUPS SAFELY WITH i2c     OCT 2020

All activity will be consistent with the government guidance regarding health, travel, social distancing and hygiene at all times

PRE-ATTENDANCE SYMPTOM CHECK

 All participants in sessions should undergo a pre-attendance self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms using the information on the NHS website before leaving home. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/

No-one should leave home to participate in tennis if they, or someone they live with, has symptoms of COVID -19, currently recognised as any of: - A high temperature - A new, continuous cough - A loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/

 Should an individual have demonstrated any such symptoms, they must follow NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation

 

GROUPS & COURTS

  • Focus Groups can now go back to max. 6 players
  • Training Groups of up to 12 permitted on a MINIMUM of 2 full size courts
  • 2m social distancing in place where possible for players, parents and coaches (1m+ is acceptable for short periods of time)
  • Courts will be physically marked out with barriers in place (appropriate to the age of the players) where necessary to ensure social distancing
  • Players bring their own drink and place it by the cone/marker adjacent to their warm-up zone
  • Drills will be set up and clearly explained by the coach so that players know where to position themselves safely
  • Our sessions will continue to be conducted using player ‘zones’ to ensure social distancing   
  • 2 red courts with max. of 6 players per red court allowed at opposite ends of a full-size court

 

CAMPS

  • Camp sessions can operate on an max. 12 player capacity (+1 coach) subject to sufficient court space available and social distancing and maybe reduced depending on the age/ability of the participants
  • The players will remain with the same coach for the entire session and will not mix with other groups or sessions that may be running
  • Children of similar ages/abilities will be kept together
  • Toilet and drink/snack breaks will be scheduled, supervised and staggered with any other activities that are taking place at the venue
  • Breaks will take place outdoors where possible
  • ONLINE advance bookings ONLY are accepted.  No on the day ‘walk-ups’ or cash payments are allowed
  • Please bring your own rackets
  • Send your child with their own hand sanitiser to minimise sharing

 

HYGIENE

  • All players use toilet and wash hands with soap BEFORE leaving their house to travel to their venue
  • All players apply hand sanitiser immediately before and after stepping onto court and regularly throughout each session
  • Sessions may finish a couple of minutes early to allow for changeover to next group
  • Players remain outside the court boundary until the previous session (if there is one) have left the premises/area adjacent to the court(s)
  • All coaches will apply hand sanitiser before, after and during every coaching session
  • All attendees are encouraged not to touch their faces

 

EQUIPMENT

  • Tennis balls can now be handled by players, however, this will still be minimised to reduce the risk of transmission.
  • Any coaching equipment used (e.g. cones) will only be handled by the coach who will clean and wipe down thoroughly after sessions
  • Adjusting the net – only the coach will do this

 

GENERAL

  • Guardian (non-participant) or carer attendance is permitted and is not counted as part of the maximum group size, but should be off court and limited to one per child, with social distancing strictly observed while watching the session.
